So How Does it Work?
The Canadian government have placed a huge importance on the way that their citizens receive treatment for their healthcare. But one important fact that expats need to bear in mind is that you will need to join the respective state run health insurance program once you make the move over the pond. Depending on which state you decide to make your home, you will need to brush up on the way that they offer these services. You may or may not be afforded supplementary services and that can make all the difference when you need urgent medical treatment.

About 66% of Canadians are currently using this option and many of them have an employer sponsor plan to help with the costs. If we were to compare Canadian healthcare with similar countries, it certainly scores pretty high with primary care, and this is good news for those with asthma or uncontrolled diabetes. The idea behind this is that most of these cases are dealt with before they become chronic. On the negative side, the Canadian healthcare system suffers from poor waiting times and you will usually face a one month wait for an appointment.
