How To Make an Insurance Claim

In the unfortunate event that you need to make a claim immediate notification should be given to our claim settling agents below. They will reply immediately with the procedures and paperwork necessary to make a claim.

We endeavor to ensure a smooth claims handling process right through to the fulfillment of a claim. Important Notes: This insurance can only pay on items you have valued and declared on the application you submitted to 1st Move. Please note that personal effects will only be covered for breakage if they have been professionally packed as set out in the Insurance Proposal Terms. Claims documentation will be sent to you immediately. In the meantime you should attempt to obtain estimates where viable for necessary repairs or replacement. If you did not endorse the delivery documentation when receiving your goods you should also write or email the final delivery agents advising them of the nature of damage or loss. In the event of a substantial, complicated or prolonged insurance claim insurers may appoint local representation to investigate and settle your claim locally. In this event we will advise you promptly of the local agents who will handle your claim.

The following must always be provided:

  • Your name and address and email for correspondence.
  • The certificate number as it appears on your policy.
  • Please inform The Removals Claims Service your mover was: 1st Move International.
  • In your own words, please give them as many details as possible of your claim.

The Removals Claims Service will then reply to you directly by return.
